Looking for something different or unusual for your collection? Here’s something you rarely see anymore – an old bronze water cannon, once found aboard harbor fire boats and coast guard vessels.
It is marked “M. Hart, NYC, Patented Jan. 1902.”
I have added a base of wood that I painted black, to add to its ‘industrial’ look. The midsection still has its iron (or steel) base flange which I have bolted to the wood base with eight polished bronze bolts. With base, it weighs about 75 pounds.
The cannon itself is bronze which you can polish to a high luster. Or you may want to let it mellow to a natural darker finish.
Note the old photograph showing the placement of the water cannon aboard a vessel.
