Fully extended it is 40 inches long, but retracts to only 9.5 inches. The barrel is 2.25 inches across with a two-inch achromatic objective lens.

One of the most unusual instruments we have ever offered, this early telescope has 10 sections, or 9 draws. Fully extended it is 40 inches long, but retracts to only 9.5 inches. The barrel is 2.25 inches across with a two-inch achromatic objective lens. The scope focuses easily. The sections draw smoothly without binding. There are only a couple of very minor dents which do not detract from the beauty of the brass tube.
The telescope was made by Abraham Abraham, probably in the 1820s. He maintained shops in Liverpool and Glasgow early in the 19th century. It is engraved with his name and "Liverpool."

This is a rare telescope with great presence.
